The AN/PVS-12A (WS2154), also known as the Aquila, is a dedicated 6x Night Vision Weapon Scope.  In use by U.S. Warfighters for intermediate range engagements, it has proven a rugged and dependable scope able to withstand the rigors of the battlefield.  The AN/PVS-12A is able to detect a human from over 2,000 meters with a ¼ moon, making it very useful for overwatch positions and snipers.  Animals, such as a coyote, can be detected from about 1,500 meters.  This makes the AN/PVS-12A Aquila a great choice for hunters as well.  Built with L-3’s state of the art CS001 Gen3 image intensifier tube, it features incredible clarity that easily rivals other 6x scopes in its class.

The AN/PVS-12A Aquila is designed to be mounted on bolt action rifles with M1913 Picatinny rails.  This provides enough room for the giant objective lens to clear the barrel.  It will not fit on an AR-15 platform without a riser (needed to keep the objective from bottoming out on the hand guards).  Obviously, it is built to withstand heavier calibers (up to and including .300 Win Mag).  But, the windage/elevation adjustments are designed for 7.62 x 51mm NATO.  The Aquila features a Mil-Dot type illuminated reticle.

Aquila’s are ideal for sniper/ overwatch applications.  The scope itself, is big.  But, it is solid.  The Aquila can be weapon-mounted, tripod-mounted, or hand-held for 6x magnified night vision viewing.  The massive objective lens gathers a tremendous amount of light and provides incredibly bright images with very crisp details.  It easily rivals the RAPTOR series in clarity.  Even without an infrared illuminator, individual branches and leaves in trees can be discerned from over 100 yards.  Controls are easily accessible and operated without viewing them.  The windage/elevation knobs can be identified by feel compared to the focus adjustment knob.  They feature positive click adjustments.  Like every other night vision scope, the AN/PVS-12A features a shuttered eye guard to block escaping light.  We recommend removing the internal wedges to keep the scope from punching you in the eye from recoil.
